Judith Sanders

June 1, 1942 — August 19, 2025

Judith Bridwell Sanders, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025 after a brief illness. I would like to thank our brother, David, for walking alongside Judith for the past several years and recently supporting her with encouragement and caregiving. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends

As all are aware, there was never a bigger Dallas Cowboys or Texas fan than Judith. The Great Republic of Texas was her birthplace and she always fully embraced her Texas heritage.

Although she didn't spend her growing up years in Texas, she returned there as an adult and enthusiastically reignited her love for all things Texas. During her years in Dallas she worked for Bob Greenberg, who became a life-long friend, and she met her BFF, Betsy Lyons, who also worked for Greenberg. She and Betsy have remained friends, and in recent years, travel buddies with Betsy being the recorder of their travels.

In 1983 Judith & John Cuevas co-founded OTLS, a cigarette lighter collection club. The club they formed in Dallas grew into a multi-national group and Judith developed friendships with people around the world. She was devoted to the club and was able to attend the OTLS Convention this year.

Before Judith moved to Albuquerque, she had already begun to make it her new home. She, of course, kept her beloved Texas friends but she was looking forward to developing new friendships. She chose her apartment because it was near Bear Canyon Senior Center where she looked forward to becoming involved. Over the years, she volunteered at BCSC, participated in activities and championed the center to others. She especially enjoyed the holiday open houses at BCSC and was committed to her Mahjong group. Even though it is difficult, at times, to start over in a new location, the BCSC staff and community enthusiastically welcomed her, helping her settle into her newly adopted home.

Judith was preceded in her passing by her parents, Jim & Mary Bridwell and her Grandson, Bryson. She is survived by her siblings, Ginger Bridwell Huntley and David Bridwell, her daughter, Kim Darden, her son, Michael, his wife, Beth, and their children, Brannon (Shea), Laurie Beth & Karis Marie (Kaleb) as well as two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Our family is deeply thankful for all of the expressions of love and help provided by her friends, neighbors and church family at Covenant Presbyterian Church. We are grateful for the medical and hospice teams at Presbyterian Hospital who helped Judith and our brother, David, through this season. A special thanks to David's children for enriching their aunt's life. Thank you to Natalie Roper for her kindness.

Since Judith chose not to have a service, if you would like to donate to Judith's supported charities , in her name in lieu of flowers, Jim Riley Outreach, jimrileyoutreach.org and RMHC-NM, https://www.rmhcnm.org/

Judith will be missed by many!
