August 30th 2024, Judith Ann (Edblom) Jojola suddenly passed away leaving friends and family with memories of her fun loving spirit, infectious laugh, and her generous heart. The Minnesota girl found love in our nations capitol and settled down in Albuquerque with her beloved husband Robert (Bob) who preceded her in death. Never having children of her own she was “Aunt Judy” to a legion of kids she was happy to spoil. Classmates (class of ’59), co-workers, family and friends everywhere mourn her passing yet celebrate the smiles and goodness she so warmly shared.
Born in Red Wing, MN April 5, 1941 Judy was the only daughter of Vernon and Marcella Edblom. Raised in the Catholic church Judy’s devotion to her faith supported her throughout her life. Living close to the local golf course Judy took up golf and excelled with a 3 handicap. She won the women championships multiple times. Judy had long friendships with her Red Wing High classmates who will be missing her as they soon celebrate their 65th reunion! Her intelligence, multitasking skills and outgoing personality eventually landed her a job working for Congressman Al Quie first close to home and eventually to Washington DC. Judy continued government service in New Mexico where she held multiple roles in the NM Department of Labor including grant writer, financial analyst, and account manager retiring after 25 years of service. Judy and her husband Bob enjoyed spending summers at their cabin at Vallecito Lake, Colorado hosting fishing trips and card games for family and friends.
Judy loved children, dogs (especially Boogie and Benji), all sports, her large extended New Mexico family, her many devoted friends, playing games on her phone, and her Mentholatum (as it was always close by). Judy was preceded in death by her brothers “Skip” and Dave as well as brother-in-laws Salomon Jojola and Paul Maestas and niece Kari Jo Edblom. She is survived by her nephews Daniel Edblom of Novato, CA and Jon Edblom of Durango, CO and their daughters Erin, Callie and Jessie, sister-in-laws Emma Maestas, Josie Jojola, Rosalie Montano (Joe), Cora Mae Trujillo, brother-in-law Michael Jojola (Patricia Torn) and many, many, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by those fortunate to know her.
A Memorial Rosary will take place on Monday October 28th, 2024 at 9:30am at Queen of Heaven Church, 5311 Phoenix Avenue Northeast, Albuquerque, NM with a Mass of Catholic Burial to follow at 10:00am. Reception will take place at the Parish Hall following Mass.
