Juanita Gipson

October 18, 1924 — April 27, 2025

Juanita Teresa Burk was born in Leesburg Alabama to Arthur and Elva Burk on October 18, 1924. Her siblings included three sisters and a brother now all deceased. As a farmer's daughter she helped with the chores and fondly reminisced about picking cotton from the fields. She died peacefully at a residence on April 27, 2025, after obtaining the amazing age of one hundred years, six months.

After graduating from high school, she met Ruben R. Gipson, an Air Force member, on a double-blind date with her sister and another man. They fell in love and were married on June 20, 1944, in Etowah, Alabama. They shared a lifelong love until Sergent Gipson's death in 1995.

Juanita enjoyed the life of home maker and mother. She was a woman of faith and served as Sunday School Secretary for Eastern Hill Baptist Church for decades.

She was also an accomplished sewist, knitter, and chef. Her greatest achievement was being an exceptional mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Her parents, siblings, and husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Weimer, granddaughter, Veronica Johnson, and great-granddaughters Morgan and Riley Johnson. All survivors currently reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She will be sadly missed by all.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday May the 10th. The location is Eastern Hills Baptist Church on Morris. All are welcome to join.
