Born in Pampa, Texas, Passed in Albuquerque NM on March 3,2024. A New Mexican since 1936. She was an original member of Hoffmantown Church, and Hoffmantown Neighborhood since 1951. Colleen was a true practicing, Christian. Attended elementary and junior schools in Albuquerque. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1949. Married Herbert Coontz in 1950 and returned to Albuquerque in 1951. Colleen had a large extended family, many migrating to New Mexico in the 1930’s.

Colleen was preceded in passing by her parents, Cole and Lessie Ritchey. Her husband of 60 years, Herbert Coontz, daughter Linda Coontz Mosow, and her loved sister, Bobbie Sue Kelley (Vern).

Colleen is survived by her son Glenn (Jackie) Coonts, granddaughter Kelly (Derrick) Alhona, Grandson Casey (Liz) Coontz, great grandchildren Faith, Gabby, Dani, Dillon, and Savanah. Niece Shannon (Chuck) Skinner, nephew Dan (Ellen) Mathers, Cousin Randy Quick, sister-in-law Christine (Minister Duane) Waters.

Our gratitude to caretakers Erica and Diane, entire staff of Presbyterian Comfort and Hospice Care (Dawn, Indira, and Rabi Diane). Special friends Cindy (Mark) Soo Hoo, Berman, Burcham, Hanrahan, Maestas, Velarde, and Brazil families. Family members she loved dearly, Jim and Joan O’Leary, Jamie (Bob) Cody, Mike (Sam), Pat, Kevin (Erika), Joanne (Cliff) Arthurs, Jared and Ryan Cody, Ron (Kathy) Bunt, Kenny (Terri) Bunt, Coonts of Tuson, Quick Families. 

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Mathers, Randy Quick, Casey Coontz, Derrick Alhona, Mike Monturn, Gerry Wanrahan, Jerry Velarde, Robert Maestas, George Brazil, Tom Solga, Kenny Bunt, and Ronnie Bunt.
 

Colleen will join 25 family members at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please thank a nurse, doctor, soldier, first responder, and take time each day to hug a friend or family member.
