2:00 - 3:00 pm (Mountain time)
Joyce Ann Harris, who was known and adored by her family as "Mimi," passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2026, at the age of 89. She leaves behind a family shaped by a lifetime of her love - the family she always put first, above all else.
Born October 15, 1936, Joyce spent her entire life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a city she cherished and never left. It was there she built her home and family, raised her children, kept her many dear friendships, and cultivated a deep appreciation for the beauty of Southwestern art. She found great joy in creating art of her own, and painting and other artistic endeavors were a lasting source of delight throughout her life. Mimi was an incredible piano player who could play any music after hearing it only once. She particularly loved music that glorified her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was always a thrill for her to share her gift of music with those around her.
Joyce was a woman of many talents and remarkable range. Over the years she worked as a beautician, as a Human Resources Manager, and, to the delight of everyone who ever heard the story, sang with Glen Campbell on the radio. Yet whatever role she filled, her truest and most treasured calling was that of mother and grandmother. Everything she did, she did with her family in mind.
Above all, Joyce was a strong believer in Jesus Christ, and her faith remained steadfast throughout her life. She carried it quietly and constantly, passing its comfort on to those she loved and anyone who would listen. Her family will forever hold close her gentle, familiar reminder to "Sleep with the angels and keep Jesus in your heart." In those words, they have found peace.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Sterling Harris; her parents, Clifford and Ruth (Guthrie) Campbell; and her brother, Robert Campbell.
She is survived by her three children, Lauren Gleason (Mark), Wendy Harada (Mark), and Chad Harris (Cathleen); her seven grandchildren, Rhiannon Padilla (Esequiel), Jordyn Padilla (Diego), Chelsea Lopez (Chris), Colton Harada (Kota), Jesse Harada (Nikki), Kristin Harris, and Eden Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Alexa, Aria, Alyse, and Dunham, each of them a part of the family she loved so completely. Joyce will be greatly missed by her entire family.
Services will be held on July 29 at 2:00 p.m.at French, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow the next day at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will rest beside her husband of more than 50 years.
Sleep with the angels, Mimi, and keep Jesus in your heart
