Joseph Aubrey
Smith
Jun 17, 1990 — Jun 20, 2026
Paradise Hills Golf Course Event Center
2:00 - 5:00 pm (Mountain time)
Joseph Aubrey Smith, our beloved son, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2026, at the age of 36. Although his time with us was far too short, Joseph's legacy of kindness, love, and laughter will remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved father, Aubrey Smith. He is survived by his son, Jacob; his mother, Evelyn; and his sisters, Tina (Kevin), Lisa (Brian), and Jessica (Justin). Additionally, he is survived by a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Joseph was born on Father's Day, June 17, 1990, to Aubrey and Evelyn Smith. He brought joy to those around him from the moment he entered this world. Raised in New Mexico from the age of four, Joseph was blessed with a charismatic personality and had a remarkable ability to connect with people everywhere he went. His genuine kindness, warm heart, and joyful spirit made him a cherished presence in the lives of family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joseph loved his family with all his heart. He made every moment special and celebrated the moments he shared with each of them. Joseph shared a close and special relationship with his mother, Evelyn, and lovingly included her in every aspect of his life. The youngest of four children, Joseph also shared a beautiful bond with his sisters, Tina, Lisa, and Jessica, keeping in constant communication with them and keeping them informed about his latest fun and exciting activities. He made an effort to develop meaningful relationships with each of his aunts, uncles, and many cousins, who all loved spending quality time with him. Above all, Joseph's greatest pride and joy was his son, Jacob, to whom he was a loving and devoted father. Everyone who knew Joseph also knew he loved his son more than anything in the world.
Joseph had a passion for learning and a strong work ethic. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University and began his professional career as an engineer in Silver City, New Mexico. He excelled in engineering, yet Joseph's outgoing personality and love of socializing with others eventually led him to pursue a career that would allow him to connect more directly with people. He found fulfillment with Renewal by Andersen, where he built strong relationships with customers and coworkers alike. Joseph's colleagues became an extension of his family, and they respected his dedication and professionalism, as well as his positivity, encouragement, and bright personality, which made him a valued team member.
Joseph never met a stranger. One of the things he enjoyed most in life was the large circle of friends he made throughout the years. Everywhere he went, his upbeat personality made Joseph the center of attention. He could make anything fun with his happy demeanor and sense of humor. People immediately wanted to join his club, and he welcomed everyone with a smile. He was the main character in many adventurous stories, and he gave his family and friends plenty of fun tales to share.
Joseph's warm heart, irresistible charm, and loving personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void within all of us, his memory lives on forever in the hearts and memories of all who loved him.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Paradise Hills Golf Course Event Center, 10035 Country Club Lane NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
