Joseph (Jerry) Gerald López

Joseph (Jerry) Gerald López, born on May 6, 1948, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on May 23, 2024, in his hometown of Albuquerque. He was 76 years old.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Agnes Lorraine Grummer-Lopez; his children: Monique Brown and Brian Lopez; his son-in-law: Travis Brown; and his grandchildren: Anthony Lopez, Jasiah Lopez, Jada Brown, Patricia Lopez, Pablo Lopez, Sophia Sumrall-Lopez, and his great-grandchild: Bryce Lopez. Jerry was preceded in death by his sons, Jerry Lopez and Millard Sumrall.

Jerry dedicated 36 years of his life to serving his country with honor and distinction in the Air Force and Air National Guard, retiring with the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

Jerry was a humble man who enjoyed camping and fishing. Known for his friendly nature, Jerry loved to walk and converse with his neighbors. Jerry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph's Dr. NW - Albuquerque, NM 87120. We will meet back at FRENCH Funeral Home on 9300 Golf Course Rd at 12:00 p.m. to follow the hearse to the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico where Jerry will be laid to rest with full military rights.

A visitation and Rosary will be held the night before on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside Chapel. Rest in peace, Jerry. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
