We are saddened to announce that John "Mick" Verner, 66, passed away at home on May 22 after a long battle with ALS.
John is survived by his wife, Diane, of almost 44 years, son Chris, daughter-in-law Liz, and brother William. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Mary and his brothers James and Pete.
He graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder as an Electrical Engineer.
As a Lieutenant in the Air Force, he was a test engineer working on explosives and other testing. He then worked as a civilian at AFOTEC and DESA for several years. After working on his master's at UNM, he finally ended up working for SBS Technologies (later GE Fanuc). He spent the last few years working on our garden and walking our dog(s) - Beth and later Pepper.
John also loved hiking, watching sports, napping, and traveling. His travels took him to many states and countries with family and friends including Kenya, Peru, Costa Rica, among others.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations to either the national ALS society or New Mexico ALS society to help cure this terrible disease.
