John Thomas Reilly, Jr.

John T. “Tom” Reilly, Jr., 67, an Albuquerque Native passed peacefully at home in Placitas, NM on May 23, 2018. Tom is preceded in death by his father, John T. Reilly, mother Betty Reilly, and sister Trish Reilly. Tom is survived by his wife, the love of his life Dawn Brewer-Reilly; daughters, Sarai Reilly-Monroe and husband, Phillip Monroe, Nissa Reilly, Megan Betts, Meghan Reilly-Nelson and husband, Neil Nelson; step-mother, Margaret Reilly; sister, Kathleen Thompson; niece, Danielle Tweed; and four grandchildren, Taytum, Laine, Kaden and Kharis, as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom graduated from Highland High School in 1968 and the University of New Mexico in 1973 with a degree in biology and is an alumni of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Tom was in the steel fabrication business and owner of Pace Iron Works. Tom’s entrepreneurship’s led him to many partnerships and lifetime friends. Tom and Dawn loved to visit their home in Durango; Tom enjoyed 4 Wheeling in the mountains and fly fishing. Tom was a member and an avid golfer at Albuquerque Country Club. In his last few years, Tom and his wife committed their time to establishing the Overlook Wildlife Sanctuary and caring for the wild horses of Placitas. His love for all his daughters and grandchildren could reach the stars. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Albuquerque County Club, 601 Laguna Blvd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) or Placitas Animal Rescue (parnm.org).
