John D Garcia

9/24/1961 – 1/19/2018

John D. Garcia, 56, passed away from this life on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Albuquerque. In his youth, John was an avid swimmer and a long-time member of the Coronado Aquatic Club. He loved music and like his father, was a self-taught piano player, who enjoyed playing for family and friends. He attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs and eventually received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico after taking a curriculum of various physical and social science courses.

He is survived by his brothers, Michael, Jim, and Mark; and sisters, Maria, Imelda, Catherine, and Lara. He also leaves many cousins, nieces, and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother, Viola E. Garcia; father, William C. Garcia; brothers, Stephen Garcia and Martin Garcia; and sister, Dr. Cecilia Garcia.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – University. Memorial contributions may be made to NAMI Albuquerque at www.nami.org.
