Lt. Col John J. (Jack) Birosak is the Group Commander for Logistics, 150th FG, New Mexico Air National Guard, Kirtland AFB NM. He is responsible for directing all 150th Logistics actions to insure mission accomplishment. Through subordinate supervisiors he manages Aircraft Maintence, Supply, Logistics Plans, Contracting, Vehicle Maintenance and Traffic Management actions. Represents and speaks for the Air Commander in the designated Jurisdictional area with the National Guard Bureau, TAG, USP, and FO, other Military componets and representatives of state and local governments.

Lt. Col Birosak was born on July 7, 1938, in Plains, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts at the University of New Mexico in 1966. He completed Squadron Officer School in 1977, and Air Command and Staff College in 1982.


Lt. Col Birosak enlisted in the Air Force at Wilkes-Barre PA., on July 13, 1956. After graduating from Auto Tracking MSQ-1 Radar school at Keesler AFB Mississippi in 1957, he was assigned to Kirtland AFB NM. He later cross trained to the Aerial Photo Chase field, and flew in a variety of aircraft including the T-33, F-100, B-57 and F-104. He separated from active duty in July 1960 and enlisted in the New Mexico Air National Guard in March 1961 where he served as a technician until 1963. In 1964, he enrolled in the R.O.T.C program at the University of New Mexico. He graduated and commissioned a Second Lieutenant on June 10 1966. Returning to active duty in November of 1966, he attended Aircraft Maintenance Officer School at Chanute AFB IL. After graduating from the Aircraft Maintenance Officer School he was assigned to LG Hanscom Field in Massachusetts.

From April 1971 to April 1972, he served a tour of duty at Phang Rang and Da Nang Vietnam as a Squadron Maintenance Officer. Upon his return from Vietnam, he was assigned to Luke AFB Arizona as a Field Maintenance Supervisor. In 1975, he separated from Active Duty and re-joined the New Mexico ANG in 1976 where he served in many maintenance positions until 1981. Since 1981 he has been a full time technician, and served as the Group Logistics Officer, Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Squadron Commander, Deputy Commander for Maintenance and his current position, the Group Commander for Logistics.

Some of his military awards and decoration include the Outstanding Unit Citation, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Small Arms Expert (Rifle and Pistol), National Defense Service Medal, Longevity Service Award and others.

He assumed the rank of LT. Colonel in June 10, 1987.
Lt Colonel Birosak is married to the former Agnes Vigil of Springer New Mexico. They have three children, Mary, Joe and John.

There will a Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at FRENCH- Lomas. The Graveside Service will be at Santa National Cemetery that afternoon at 1:30 pm.
