John F. Baca, 86 of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was one of 12 siblings, born in Albuquerque and raised in the five points area on his family's farm.
John attended Ernie Pyle and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1959, where he played football. He worked as a machinist for Honeywell, building his life around love, devotion, and connections. He was outgoing and made friends easily. His hobbies included tinkering in his garage, spending weekends at the lake, traveling, and walks in the bosque where he and his wife volunteered for open space. He was always busy, extremely loyal to his family, never missing a trip, dinner, or sporting event. John was an honest man and always believed a handshake meant your word.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and is survived by his wife Mary Louise of 66 years. Together, they built a strong family and raised three children, Sid and his wife, Margarita, JD, and Nicole and her husband, Ernie, all who continue to carry forward his strong sense of integrity and spirit.
He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Aubree and her husband, JK, Ashley and her Husband, Steven, Andrea, Nathaniel, and Savannah; and a cherished great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, Sidney, Jackson, Madison, Milani, and Marcelo. Each and every one of them brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Dorothy, Ida, and Max; and predeceased by his eight other siblings.
John was known for his loving nature, unwavering support and extroverted personality. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his honesty, kindness, warmth, and welcoming heart.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and most of all, lasting memories that will be treasured by all that knew him.
