Joe M. Torrez, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2017, surrounded by his beloved family. Joe was born April 20, 1939 in Los Ojos, NM, the son of Jose and Ascencion Torrez. He married the love of his life, Dolores Martinez, on December 26, 1959 at the San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos, NM. After graduating from Tierra Amarilla High School in 1958, Joe ran Torrez Oil Company in Chama, NM for 47 years and dedicated his life to his family and helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, JamieJo Torrez and his great-granddaughter, Amyah Archuleta. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores; his sons, Joe M. Torrez, Jr. (Deanetta), of Albuquerque and James Torrez (DiAnn), of Bloomfield, NM; his daughter, Carol Torrez of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Michelle Torrez, Jameson Torrez (Crystal), Hunter Torrez (Desiree) and Savannah Torrez (Sophie); and four great-grandchildren, Abram Saavedra, Diego Torrez, Gianna Archuleta and Xavier Torrez. He is also survived by an aunt, Mary Delgado, two brothers, Robert Torrez (Juanita) and Ramon Torrez, and five sisters, Cecila Martinez (Felix), Lupe Valdez (Tony), Mary Lou Martinez (Atilano), Theresa West (Dale) and Olivia Valencia (Joseph). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A Rosary will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:45 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87114. A private burial will be held at a later date.
