Our father, Joe "Fito" Chavez, age 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017. Mr. Chavez is survived by his children, LoriAnn Vargas and husband, Sammy and Lee Ann Gallegos and husband, Jon; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Bernie Chavez; sisters, Ramona Turrietta and Christine Gonzales; along with many nieces, nephews and Godchildren who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herculano and Frances Chavez; son, Rudy Jaramillo; and sister, Mable Contreras.
Fito served in U.S. Army for three years. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 2, 2017, 9:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW. A Committal Service with military honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
