Joan Virginia Hedgren, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on September 17, 1944, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Joan dedicated her life to the field of nursing, serving at several prestigious institutions, including St. Joseph's Hospital and The Montebello. With a Master's Degree in nursing, she was a highly decorated professional and a compassionate teacher to many in her field.

Joan exemplified the joy of life, filled with laughter, love, and cherished moments with her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lawrence Hedgren; her two sons; Matthew and Michael Dixson her three siblings; Michael, Daniel and Kathryn and her four Grandchildren: Falyn, Johnny, Ava and William.

Joan delighted in sharing her passion for reading, travel, and the beauty of sunsets in Maui with all who knew and loved her. A kind and thoughtful soul, Joan enjoyed music, dancing, reading and laughing. She had a deep compassion for animals and built lasting friendships that enriched her life. Her spirit and generosity touched the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial service in her honor will be held on April 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. The family invites all who knew Joan to celebrate her remarkable life and enduring legacy.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; Odo and Rosemary Wegmann.
