Jimmie Wayne Glenn

November 28, 1940 — August 18, 2025

Jimmie Wayne "The Colonel" Glenn, 84, beloved son, brother, husband, father and mentor was called to his eternal resting place on August 18, 2025. He was born to Jim and Alice (Gore) Glenn in Cotton Center, TX.

Graduating from Midland High School in Midland, TX, he set out for Albuquerque, NM to attend the University of New Mexico. Upon graduating with his Bachelor’s degree he then enlisted in what he considered to be most elite branch of the United States military-THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORP!! He served in Vietnam and several other conflicts. After an illustrious 38-year career in the USMC he retired with full rank as Colonel. In addition to his distinguished military career, he served as an elected New Mexico State Corporation Commissioner. When his term ended as State Corporation Commissioner he then went on to serve as the President of the New Mexico Retail Association.

He loved driving through the mountains of New Mexico, enjoying the vibrant colors of fall. Among other things that he loved doing was being able to talk with people and help others whenever he could. It did not matter if it was just having a cup of coffee with a fellow vet, donating to someone in need or to an organization such as the Simper Fi Foundation.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Smith-Glenn, daughter Chamaigne (Brian) Scamman, son Shannon Glenn, son Jeff (Karen) Connors, brother Bobby Glenn, sisters Dell (John) Sloman and Elaine Wingfield; his grandchildren Emily (Joe) Castaneda and Spencer Scamman and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dickie Glenn and Tommy Glenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made "In Memory of Col. Jimmie Glenn, USMC" to the Semper Fi and America's Fund, 825 College Blvd, Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside CA 92057, or online at TheFund.org.
