Jim Ed Tillerson, our beloved son and a true friend to many, passed away on July 11. He valiantly fought the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis for over 25 years. His spirit was always positive and his smile warmed your heart.
He was educated at Sunset Mesa, Albuquerque Academy, Tulane University, and the University of Phoenix. As a HR specialist, Jim made many friends and loved working at Bueno Foods, PNM, Southwest Cardiology Associates, and the University of New Mexico.
Jim's love for the Lord was also evident in the way he faithfully served his church throughout his life. He had a true servant's heart and found great joy in helping others grow in their faith. He taught 6th-grade Sunday School and welcomed everyone with a warm smile as both a church greeter and a divorce care leader. He faithfully led a Bible study for single adults for more than 15 years. His unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, and commitment to serving others left a lasting legacy that will be cherished by his church family and all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his parents, Joe & Ruth Tillerson, of Albuquerque as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. His sister, Elizabeth, preceded him in death. In addition, there are numerous "sisters and brothers" he loved in his youth group, Bible study groups, church family and the staff at UNM Hospital where the nurses, doctors and staff worked tirelessly to care for him.
A visitation night will be held on Thursday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m. at French Mortuary, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Sagebrush Community Church, UPTOWN CAMPUS, 1613 Arizona St NE 87110 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 18. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Project Defending Life, or Alongside Ministries Albuquerque, Inc. The family invites you to wear either Dallas Cowboy or Superman attire, if you would like, to Jim's Celebration Service. Jim always enjoyed fun!
