Jeffrey Vilas Vreeke, 70, of Placitas, New Mexico, formerly of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away on July 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Jeff was the son of Vilas and Joyce Vreeke. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1974 before earning a bachelor's degree in Business from Lakeland College. Jeff built a successful career with FIS, where he worked until his retirement in 2018.
Retirement allowed Jeff to devote more time to the things he loved most. Alongside his beloved wife Betty, he embraced every opportunity to explore the beauty of the United States, traveling together to National Parks and scenic destinations, camping, hiking, and making memories wherever the road led them. A gifted woodworker, Jeff also took great pride in building handcrafted toys and treasured keepsakes for his grandchildren. He loved spending time with family and friends at the family cabin in the Northwoods, where he enjoyed fishing, hiking, and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. For the past eight years, Jeff and Betty made their home in Placitas, New Mexico, where they enjoyed the beauty of the Southwest while remaining deeply connected to family and lifelong friends. Above all else, Jeff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was known for his quiet strength, generous heart, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Betty (Neumann) Vreeke; his sons, Eric Vreeke and his wife, Kayla of Colorado Springs, and Adam Vreeke and his wife, Jasmine of Mequon; his cherished grandchildren, Quinn, Olive, Lyla, and Arlo; his sister, Vicki Kuester of Merrill; and his brother, David Vreeke of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vilas and Joyce Vreeke, and his younger brother, Vilas Vreeke.
Jeff's legacy is one of love, kindness, humility, and dedication to his family. Whether through the toys he carefully crafted by hand, the adventures shared at the cabin, or the countless moments spent supporting those he loved, he leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and lovingly remembered always.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 3:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton, Wisconsin. A memorial service in New Mexico to be announced at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jeff's life and honor the lasting impact he had on all who knew and loved him.
