It is with great sadness that we announce the belated passing of Jeanette Marie De La Cruz, who was reported missing on October 20, 1999. She passed away on Nov 16, 1999, just weeks after her 20th birthday.
Jeanette was born Nov 3, 1979, in Albuquerque NM to parents Chris De La Cruz and Rene Morris. She spent most of her early and teenage years in Albuquerque attending Cleveland Middle School and Eldorado High School. She earned her High School Diploma in 1997 through YDDC.
As a child Jeanette was exceptionally bright and very inquisitive. She had a great love for animals, especially for her cat Misty. She was quite the skater, dancer, and liked every kind of music. As she grew up, she built many friendships, and these were the most important things to her. She would do anything for a friend. With a big heart, she was very loving and caring and was always a joy to be with. As the first grandchild, she was adored by both of her grandmothers, Pamela Morris and Dolores De La Cruz, also known to the families as "Nana Morris" and "Nana Cruz". Her aunts, uncles, sister, brother, and cousins all thought the world of her. As a little girl, we often called her "Nettie".
Sadly, at age 19, Jeanette went missing. Her remains were only recently identified, 26 years later.
For the past 26 years, family and friends have been worried not knowing what fate bestowed on her. She has been alive in all our hearts this whole time and has never been forgotten. Now that we know that fate took her life many years ago, she can now finally rest in peace. She is home again with us and will continue to live forever in our hearts. We will always love her. Rest in peace, Nettie.
Jeanette's father wishes to thank these people for being such an important part of Jeanette's life both past and present, and for providing much needed support throughout these many trying years: Dolores De La Cruz, Pam Morris, Rene Morris-Lemke, Meri De La Cruz, Albert De La Cruz, Victor and Nancy De La Cruz, Elizabeth De La Cruz, John De La Cruz, Vint Morris, Jay Vigil, Lou Ann Vigil, Sarah Lemke, Matthew Lemke, Maria Murray, Det.
