James Walter Phelps passed away on October 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Beverley; children, Naomi Kepler (Tim) and Martin Phelps (Cindy); stepchildren, Britt Harville and Aaron Harville; and many grand and great-grandchildren. He retired from a long career in optics in 2016. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, golf and reading. He will be missed.
