James Lyndel "Lyn" Hendren

May 24, 1937 — May 1, 2024

James Lyndel Hendren, affectionately known as Lyn, was born on May 24th, 1937, in Seminole, Oklahoma, and passed away on May 1st, 2024. Lyn grew up in Albuquerque, since the age of 5 and graduated from Highland High School. Following his passion for business, Lyn earned a business degree from Southern Methodist University where he met the love of his life, Suann. He returned to Albuquerque, where he made a tremendous impact within the New Mexico business community. He lived a life brimming with love, dedication, and service to others.

Lyn was a man of many passions. His love for dogs was only matched by his passion for the game of golf, and traveling to many foreign countries with his wife and good friends. Beyond his personal pursuits, Lyn dedicated himself to his community, leaving an indelible mark on Albuquerque and beyond.

A pillar in the community, Lyn served in numerous leadership roles, including President of the NM Boy Scout Council, President of Albuquerque Industrial Development, and as a Board member at the Albuquerque Country Club and Presbyterian Hospital. He generously lent his time and expertise to organizations such as the Salvation Army, Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, and the Phi Gamma Delta Alumni Association. In addition, Lyn was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. Lyn's harmonious spirit extended even to his musical interests, as he participated in the New Mexi-Chords Barbershop group.

Lyn's greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He was the Son of Jim and Mildred Hendren and survived by his brother Phillip Hendren (Linda Humphrey) Lyn was the loving husband of Suann Hendren for 63 years, a steadfast partner through life's ups and downs. Together, they raised four children: Jenny Foreman (Craig Foreman), Janna Horner (Bruce Horner), Jamie Hendren (Sara Hendren), and Julie Rajaee (Jay Rajaee), who carry on his legacy of love and service. Lyn was also a cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way.

In every aspect of his life, Lyn Hendren exemplified compassion, integrity, and generosity. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

A Celebration of Life honoring Lyn Hendren will be held on Friday, May 17th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Albuquerque Country Club.
