Jake Vigil

Jake Vigil, a dearly loved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 80. Jake was a proud veteran of the United States Army, who carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life.

Jake is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Alice; his children, Michael Anthony (LeeAnn), Andrew (Sylvia), Victoria (Cody) and Theresa (Jose Manuel); his brothers, Henry, Elmer and John; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

With a natural presence about him, Jake knew no stranger. This helped him as salesman in the auto industry, which he spent most of his adult life, building lasting friendships along the way. He had a fondness for old Western shows, relishing their storytelling and iconic characters. Another source of satisfaction for Jake, was owning his sprint car, 7J, which flung mud around the track for many years. As a football fan of the Raiders, he found great joy in sharing game days with his daughter, Theresa, creating a treasured tradition and memories that will last a lifetime. Jake loved to unwind with friends and could often be found enjoying a cold Bud Light (or whatever draft was cheaper) at Applebee's or Buffalo Wild Wings and having unforgettable conversations.

Above all, Jake took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children, who were his greatest joy and achievement. Having left school in the ninth grade to serve his country, Jake wanted his children to have opportunities far beyond those he had himself.

A life well-lived, Jake will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his playful and sarcastic humor, infectious laugh, generously helping nature and unwavering love for his family. He may be gone from sight, but his loving legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Jake will be deeply missed by all who knew him but remembered fondly for the laughter and love he shared.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Amalia Vigil; brother Tony Vigil; and daughter Frances Chavez.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday December 5, 2025, at 3:00pm. It will be held at the American Legion Post 49 at 11005 Central Ave. NE Albuquerque, NM 87123.
