Jacob F. Baca

Jacob Francis Baca, age 65, died on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

He was born on October 4, 1952 to Doroteo R. Baca and Carmen Bernal Baca, and was the fifth of eight children. He was a man of few words who valued work and family. Behind his quiet and shy façade, he cared deeply about others and pushed himself out of his comfort zone in order to express his love to his family. If you were very lucky, you might have gotten the opportunity to see his sense of humor, which could be silly and mischievous. Even when he lost the ability to express himself, his kind and gentle nature showed through, making him a favorite of many of his caregivers.

He is survived by his children, Maggie Sumruld, Robert Baca, and Jonathan Baca, son-in-law Chris Sumruld, and granddaughter Naura Sumruld. He also leaves behind many others who considered him to be a loving friend, uncle, or father figure. His selflessness and generosity can never be matched and will be an inspiration to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be on Friday, December 22, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  Reception will immediately follow at the same location.

Burial will take place before the service. It will be at 10:00am at La Puerta Burial Ground. Everyone is welcome, but if you prefer to just attend the service, that's fine too.
Directions to La Puerta Burial Ground from Albuquerque:
1. Take I-25 S to Belen exit 195 and through downtown Belen
2. Turn left (east) on W Reinken Ave/NM 309 continue 2.4 miles
3. Turn right (south) on Rio Communities Blvd/NM 47 South continue about 15 miles (past BNSF railroad crossing)
4. After mile marker 4, look on the left (east) for a green metal gate next to a La Puerta sign (may be closed but not locked)
5. Burial ground is 2.5 miles east from the gate
