Young, Jack Leon II

Age 63, passed away on August 13, 2026. A loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend, Jack will be greatly missed and eternally loved. Jack touched so many lives. Interesting and thought-provoking, his memories will last a lifetime. Born in Corrales, NM on September 17, 1962, he was active in 4H, FFA, Livestock Judging, and horse riding. His life encompassed many travels, living in San Angelo, TX, graduating from UNM with a history degree and obtaining his Archaeology Masters in Durham, England, while living there for 2 years. He married his wife, Debbie Young on August 4, 2001, and they had their daughter Morgan Young the following year. He spent time on the Navajo reservation working as an archaeologist before joining New Mexico Game & Fish in 2007. He loved being out in the field finding archaeological sites and studying New Mexico history. While at Game & Fish, he mentored many interns, sharing many adventures. Jack was larger than life, always willing to help and support people, and lived life with a continual sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Young; daughter Morgan Young and partner Ling Sullivan; mother, Pat Young; brother Jon Young and wife Melissa; sister, Norine Young; nephew Tyler Young and wife Santana and 2 children, Aurora and Erik; nephew Jordan Young; mother- and father-in-law, Marla and Doug Kunz; nephews Aidan and Connor Scruggs; brother-in-law, Terry Scruggs and wife Christy and children Heather, Andrew, and Ashley.

Jack's Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at French Funerals & Cremations, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. A reception will follow at Jack & Debbie's home, 68 Isabelita Rd, Tijeras, NM 87059.
