Jack Harold Darling

Jack H. Darling, age 84, passed away at home on May 22, 2024, in Albuquerque. He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma, on September 19, 1939, to John H. Darling and Ann (Sherlock) Darling.
Jack is survived by his wife Norma; twin sons, Brian and James; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Gabriella, Kaleb, and Joshua; and twin great-grandsons, Angelo and Frankie. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters and their families in Edmond, Guthrie, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In 1961, he moved to Albuquerque from Farmington, New Mexico. He and Norma were married in 1962 in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Albuquerque. They had 62 years of enjoying life together and raising a family.
Jack was self-employed in the food and liquor industry, parking lots, and real estate. He was involved in county politics serving two terms as Bernalillo county assessor.
He was a hardworking, generous, and compassionate man. Jack was a loving husband, father, and friend.
He enjoyed talking about his fishing trips to Mexico and Alaska. If you brought up the subject of basketball, he would tell you all about his basketball days in high school and junior college in Glendive, Montana. He had great respect for an opponent named Pretty Weasel, a native of the Crow Nation, who was a basketball legend in the state of Montana. Jack always gave credit where credit was due- he was a fair man.
Jack will certainly be missed by family, relatives, and friends. God blessed him with many precious years. He's now in God's hands.
A Rosary will be held on June 10, 2024 at 6:00 pm, at FRENCH-Lomas. Rosary to be led by Deacon Pat Serna. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on June 11, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque. Mass to be celebrated by Rev. Bijoy Francis. A reception will be held at St. Paul's, 9500 Constitution Ave NE, following a private Gravesite Service.
