Ivan Barker

Ivan R. Barker, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away Friday, 14 November 2025 after his hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 85 years old. Ivan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Ivan was born in Charleston, West Virginia and enlisted in the United States Army after high school. Sergeant First Class (Retired) Barker was a Vietnam War veteran. He also had assignments in Germany, Okinawa, Alaska, and various other parts of the world during his over 21 years of military service.

After his military retirement, Ivan began a second career with Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque NM where he retired after 32 years of service.

Ivan enjoyed spending time with friends and family, helping others, cooking, baking, walking, Volksmarching, Bass Fishing, and watching NASCAR races. Ivan was a 38-year member of American Legion Post 49, where he enjoyed many good times with his friends.

Ivan was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rosalie E. Barker. Ivan is survived by his stepchildren, Ginger Johnsen, Peggy Sue Day, Matthew Smith (Renee) and their families.

There will not be a service for Ivan, per his request. He will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with his wife Rosalie.
