Isabel Helen Navarro, a lifelong New Mexican and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 20.
Born on May 18, 1938, in Terrero, New Mexico, Isabel built a life centered on love, family, and caring for those around her. Together with her beloved husband, Isidro "Chino" Navarro, she raised four children and created a home filled with warmth, strength, and lasting memories.
She is survived by her children, Leonard Navarro and Patty, Deborah Gard and Paul, Sandra Navarro Cote and Ryan, and Cynthia Navarro and Chuy; her grandchildren, Zachary Gard and Vanessa, Alexander Gard and Kelsie, and Ryley Navarro Cote; her great-grandchildren, Autumn, Xander, Leonidas, Jaxon, Bryce, and Charlotte; and a seventh great-grandchild on the way.
Isabel's greatest joy was her family. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the love she shared with them will continue to be felt for generations to come.
She loved a great party, dancing, and listening to mariachi music. Some of her happiest moments were spent with family, making fresh homemade tortillas and red or green chile, celebrating life's special occasions, or laughing as she ran through the sprinklers at the park on warm summer evenings. Those simple moments became treasured memories that her family will carry with them forever.
She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Rosary for Isabel will be held on Monday, July 6th beginning at 6:00 PM at FRENCH - Wyoming with eulogy and remembrances, lead by family to follow. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 AM at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5310 Claremont Ave. NE, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 7999 Wyoming Blvd.
