Irma Stella Martinez

Irma Stella Martinez, 83, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on August 13th, 2026.

Born on May 12th in El Paso, Texas, Irma was the daughter of Jose and Maria (Faulk) Chavez. After attending high school, Irma married Hector, her husband of 47 years, whom she met on the school bus. They started a family, having three children, before moving to Albuquerque where they went on to have two more. Irma spent her life raising her children and driving them to the numerous extracurricular activities they were involved in, never complaining. She enjoyed traveling to many wonderful places around the country, including Canada, for Hector's job with the Union. She made a wonderful home and held her family close. After losing Hector in 2010, her family, friends, and neighbors rallied around her and gave her comfort. Her grandchildren brought her extreme joy and happiness. She looked forward to the many celebrations, birthdays, and holidays spent together.

Irma is survived by her five children Margaret, Daniel (Mattie), Elizabeth (Mike), Jennifer (Julian), and Annette (Diego); grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Vincent, Veronica, Jeremy, Angelina, Jada, Rickey, Jordan, Deyja, Ryan, and Janae and many great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Josie, Sylvia, Lucy, and Jenny; brothers-in-law Victor and Ruben. She was preceded in death by her husband Hector Martinez, her father, Jose A. Chavez, her mother, Maria R. Faulk, and step-father Wiley C. Faulk; her brothers, Jose A. Chavez Jr, Carlos Chavez, and Oscar Chavez; and brother-in-law Eduardo Martinez.

Irma will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation and rosary will be held on Sunday, August 30th at French Funerals, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE 87109. The visitation will begin at 5:00pm. The rosary will follow at 6:00pm.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am on August 31st at St John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr NE 87111.

The burial will follow the mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE 87109.

A reception will be held at St John XXIII immediately following the burial.
