Ina Collins

March 6, 1950 — January 5, 2024

Ina Bogart Collins, age 73, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, retired school teacher, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 5, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Ina was born in Albuquerque on March 6, 1950, to Art and Mary Bogart.

She is survived by her husband Ray, sister Becky (Craig), daughters Mara (Raven) and Lisa (Jeff), grandchildren (Aodán, Alexandria (Jade), Søren, Rainer), and great grandchildren (Peregrine, Juniper), and many nieces and nephews. She was adored by them. Ina was predeceased by two brothers, Joe and Clyde, and one sister, Mary.

Ina was a graduate of Albuquerque High School in 1967. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of New Mexico in 1983 and her Master's degree in Education in 1998 while concurrently teaching. Ina taught at Our Lady of Fatima, Griegos, EG Ross, and Mitchell Elementary Schools. She loved her students and her colleagues, and was a creative and hard-working educator.

Ina retired in 2010 and pursued more interests than most people do in a lifetime. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and master of many fiber arts. She was an active member of the quilting and fiber arts community in Albuquerque and loved sharing her knowledge and skills with others. Ina also loved working with her husband Ray, at their properties in Albuquerque and outside of Belen. Ina and Ray celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2019, and her love for him was epic, beautiful, fierce, and inspirational. She was a hero to and champion of her daughters. She was strong, she was curious, she was accomplished, she was humble. She will be missed.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, 11am, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. The burial is open to anyone who knew Ina and was touched by her life.
