Ida Padilla O'Guinn, born on Friday, November 12, 1937, in the town of Las Vegas, New Mexico, peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the cherished daughter of Carlos and Corine Padilla, who instilled in her the values of compassion and kindness which she carried throughout her life. Preceding her in eternal rest are her beloved parents and her dear sisters, Carmen Gallegos and Marie Burton.

Ida's life was profoundly enriched by the love and companionship of her lifelong partner, Edwin Gailbreath. Together, they shared a remarkable journey, filled with laughter, discovery, and adventure. Her legacy lives on through her sons, Jack and Ron O'Guinn, and their devoted wives, Suzanne and Tammy, as well as her four treasured grandchildren, Heather Davie, Ron O'Guinn, Kevin O'Guinn, and Ryan O'Guinn, and her four great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.

She is also survived by her sisters, Dora Jaramillo, Josie Lamberti, Marylou CdeBaca, Mary Alice Williams, Cecilia Landholm and her step-granddaughter Brandi Gonzales. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Robertson High School in 1955, Ida's intellect and dedication led her to a distinguished career as a Data Analyst for the Field Command Defense Nuclear Agency. Over more than four decades, she earned numerous accolades and the respect of her peers. Her commitment to excellence was unparalleled.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ida was a stalwart member of her community. She was actively involved in several Catholic Churches in Albuquerque, where she dedicated her time as a CCD teacher, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless children. Her passion for public speaking led her to Toastmasters International, where she earned the prestigious title of Distinguished Toastmaster.

Ida was a world traveler with a heart open to new experiences and cultures. Alongside Edwin, she explored the wonders of the world, making cherished memories on every cruise and journey. Her life was filled with warmth and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.

A celebration of Ida's life will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, located at 811 Guaymas Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the NM Kidney Foundation, an organization close to Ida's heart.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the devoted caregivers at The Woodmark at Uptown, French Funeral, Our Lady of the Assumption Church, and Mount Calvary Cemetery for their kindness and support during this difficult time. Ida's spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 811 Guaymas Pl NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108 on Friday August 28, 2026.
