H. Hunter Look passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, surrounded by his family. 

"Hunt" was born in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Eastern High School in Middletown, Kentucky. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University in 1963 and a Master's degree in education from Pepperdine University in 1974. He completed Squadron Officer School in 1965, Air Command and Staff College in 1973, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 1976, and the Air War College in 1977.


Colonel Look
 entered the Air Force in July 1963. His first assignment was as an air police officer at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan. From October 1964 to May 1969, he was assigned to the 70th Combat Defense Squadron, Clinton Sherman Air Force Base, Oklahoma, serving as operations and training officer and as the squadron commander. He then moved to Korea as the Chief of Security PoliceTaegu Air Base from May 1969 to May 1970.

From June 1970 to February 1972, he was assigned to the Office of the Chief of Security Police, Headquarters 5th Air Force, Japan. Upon leaving Japan, he was assigned to the 15th Security Policy Squadron, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. He served as the unit's administration/reports officer, operations officer, and squadron commander from February 1972 through June 1975.

Following his tour in Hawaii, he was next assigned as the Chief, Security Division, Field Command, Defense Nuclear Agency, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, where he served froJuly1975 through July 1978. In August 1978, he was assigned to the Air Force Office of Security Police, Law Enforcement Branch, where he remained until December 1981. He then served the Alaskan Air Command as Chief of Police from January 1982 to May 1985. His next assignment was as the Commander, 4th Security PolicSqaudron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, from June 1985 to January 1986. Between January 1986 and August 1989, he was the Commander, 90th Security Police Group, Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. In August 1989, he became the Director of Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff, Security, Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He moved to the position of Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Security, Headquarters Strategic Air Command in June 1990. His next assignment was to the Headquarters, Air Force Security Police Agency, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, as the director of corrections in June 1992. He finished his career as an Air Force Officer at Kirtland.

Colonel Look's military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.

Outside of the military, Hunt enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and softball. His love of sports came from growing up in his families sporting goods store in Louisville, Kentucky. After retirement, Hunt spent many years volunteering at the University of New Mexico Lobo Club. He and Ann spent a great deal of time attending basketball and football games. He was a charter member of the New Mexico Bowl Committee.

Hunt was a deeply faithful man and served in numerous positions throughout his life at the church they were attending. He loved serving as Head Usher at St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque.

He was married to the former Ann Grigg of Litchfield, Illinois for over 62 years. They have two daughters, Julie Ann who passed way in 1972 and Laurie (Mrs. Ralph Menzel), and one granddaughter, Meredith.
