Herbert Myron Silverberg died Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the age of 81He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Meister of Albuquerque, NM and his son, David Silverberg and grandsons Koji Silverberg Shirota and Kaito Silverberg Shirota of Palo Alto, CA. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Silverberg of Alexandria,VA. He is also survived by his stepson Damon Plath and Damon’s wife Amy Davis of Albuquerque, NM.
Herb was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1939 and graduated with his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He also served in the US Army as a Sgt and received the Army Commendation Medal by the US Army JFK for Special Warfare, 801st Intelligence Detachment, 6th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, Fort Bragg, NC 1964.
Later he was employed by the prestigious law firm Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. and then by the Attorney General’s office of the State of New Mexico before going into private practice.
He was a life-long lover of opera, a punster, and a wordsmith.
