Herbert Friedrich Schmidt

Herbert F. Schmidt, age 90, of Albuquerque New Mexico, passed away on August 14th, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn New York on February 07, 1934. He resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico for almost 50 years and called it home. He is a retired Navy veteran, as well as a retired museum curator, having been involved in the uprising of the Natural History Museum in Albuquerque. His museum career began in New York, being involved with the metropolitan Museum. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Ray Schmidt, and two granddaughters, Mandy and Sophia, and daughter-in-law Maria Schmidt. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Vickie Schmidt, his children Diane Heliotis (John), Denise Garcia (Peter), Debra La Femina (Andrew), and Douglas Schmidt, as well as his stepchildren Phil Montoya (Sherri) and Cindy Rodrigues (Mauricio). He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Graveside funeral services will be held on February 07, 2025 (Herb's birthday) at 11:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
