Henrietta Sarah Courtnage, 86, of Albuquerque, NM passed away March 28, 2018. A passionate teacher, Henri worked in special education after graduating with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Drake University and was honored by the Iowa Council for Exceptional Children with the 1986 Winterstein Award for her leadership in the field. Henri took great joy in living in Albuquerque and participating in its Jewish community. As a longtime member of Congregation Albert, she served as president of the Sisterhood, headed the Caring Committee, and was recognized as the 2013 Volunteer of the Year.
Above all, Henri loved spending time with friends and family. She is survived by her four children, Ellen (Dave) Arkovich, Laura (Craig) Wildemuth, Diane Lavenstein, and Linda (Dimitry) Frenklak; her stepchildren Steve (Kim) Courtnage, Kelly (Mark) Gregerson, Kara Schmitt, and Shawn Courtnage; her grandchildren Mike, Elisa, Stacey, Janet, Doug, Rachel, Evan, Steven Jr., Kaylin, Tyler, Corey, Jordan, and Keri; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Lee Courtnage.
Burial will be held Wednesday, April 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Congregation Albert Section, 700 Yale Blvd S.E., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd N.E.
