Helen Lucero, 86, was called to heaven to be with God and her family on June 12, 2016. She was known for her companionship between her family and friends. She was a strong independent woman who found joy in working on her yard and rose garden.
She is survived by her children, Joe Lucero and Lynda Gomez; her grandchildren, Krysta, Jolie, and Mariesa; and great-grandchildren, Angelique and Frankie. She leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Al Lucero; her mother and father, Ester and Leandro Zamora; and her brothers, Johnny, Joe, Leandro, and Sosteno Zamora.
Helen was born in Lincoln, NM, traveled as a child and settled in Los Alamos for a short time where she met her husband Al. She permanently settled in Santa Fe. When she retired from retail, she spent her time as a senior companion, serving the VFW as chaplain, and as a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
A Rosary will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2016, 9:00 a.m., at St. Francis Basilica, 131 Cathedral Pl, Santa Fe, NM 87501, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
