Hazel Taute, 93, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026. Hazel was born in Clovis, New Mexico on October 8, 1932. She grew up in Farwell, Texas and graduated from Farwell High School. She was one of 3 top ranking seniors of the class of 1950. She worked for First National Bank of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 25 years, retiring as Assistant Vice President and Institutional Banking Officer. After retiring form the bank, Hazel and her husband, Earl, moved to Derry, New Mexico to raise pecans. They remained in Derry until Earl passed in 2014. Hazel returned to Albuquerque to be closer to her family.

Hazel was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet. She showed some of her crocheted afghans in the Dona Ana County fair winning a blue ribbon. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles.

Hazel was precedented in death by her parents Hazel and Mittie Petree, her brother Wendal (Pete) Petree, her sister Mary Ruth Willis, her husband Earl Taute, her son Rex Taute and her great-grandson Joey Gober.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Donna Gober (Joe) of Sandia Park, son Mark Taute of Guatemala, daughter Lisa Taute Smith (Mark) of Layton, Utah. Grandsons Chris Gober (Josselyn) of Bayfield, Co., Tyler Smith of Layton, Utah, granddaughters Kim Cordova (Michael) of Albuquerque, Carey Taute Lockhart of Washington state and Hannah Smith of Layton, Utah. Great-grandsons Brendan Gober of Bayfield Co., Justice Cordova of Albuquerque, Logan Lockhart of Washington state, great-granddaughters Laranza Dorato (Jarrod) of Albuquerque, Lowell Cordova of Albuquerque, Sairyn Lockhart of Washington state and Clara Lockhart of Washington state. Great great-granddaughter Lyla and great great-grandson Jermiah Dorato of Albuquerque.

A Visitation followed by a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH-University. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
