Harvey Eugene Starns

Harvey Eugene Starns was born on March 5, 1947, and passed from this earth on June 11, 2025. Harvey was the son of Helen Kashas and Day Starns. At the time of his passing, Harvey was living in Rio Rancho with the love of his life, Dottie Tomaskovic.

As a child, Harvey grew up and went to school in Greenfield, Iowa. Upon graduation he enlisted with the United States Army Reserves. In his younger years, Harvey loved to rodeo and had a lifelong passion for animals. He always enjoyed riding horses and hitting the trails. Harvey always had a sense of adventure and lived in many places around the country. He drove an 18-wheeler over the road traveling the country for many years. As he got older, he found his home at the "geezer park" in Mesa, Arizona taking part in the many activities the park had to offer as he was a very social person and often times was known for his practical jokes. He met Dottie at the park in Arizona and they enjoyed taking "road trips" several times a week so Harvey could get out and enjoy the scenery. Harvey was also an animal lover and always had a dog by his side. He also collected aluminum cans for Shriners and the pop tops from the cans for the Ronald McDonald House. Over the span of many years, Harvey also donated over 800 pints of blood.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Helen Kashas and Day Starns, his sisters Dorothy Pettit, Inez Smith, brother-in-law Jerry Pettit, niece Becky Pettit and daughter-in-law Christy Becker.

Harvey is survived by his longtime love Dottie Tomaskovic, his daughters Joy (Lee) Durham, Joey Becker, sons David Agans and John Agans as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

An open house will be held on Saturday, July 19th from 1:00-4:00 pm at the family home. All are welcome to attend.
