Harvey Dwayne Rutland

Harvey Dwayne Rutland, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Dwayne" passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2026. He was born on June 1, 1942, in Okemah, Oklahoma and was raised by Sylvia and Oscar Rutland in Henryetta, Oklahoma.

Following his high school graduation, he entered the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. After his military service he obtained an Associate's Degree from Connors State College in Oklahoma and worked as an agent with the United States Department of Justice in both the Border Patrol and Immigration and Naturalization Service and later worked as an agent with the United States Customs Service.

Harvey then switched careers and eventually worked for both the Bureau of Reclamation and the United States Army Corp of Engineers which included hydroelectric dams in New Mexico, Oregon, Nevada, Georgia and Arkansas.

Harvey leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Susan; son, Erik; grandsons, Noah and Ryan and niece and nephew, Keith and Nicole Bittle.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 24th, 2026, at Saint Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church located at 5712 Paradise Boulevard NW in Albuquerque.
