Harry Mattox, a resident of Albuquerque died on May 16, 2018. Born in Murphy, NC on June 20, 1938 to H.A. and Rosemond Mattox. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Zoa Keller Mattox; son, Mason and wife, Maribel and grandson, Patrick; son, Robert; brother, Phil and wife, Virginia; sister-in-law, Nancy Barfield; nieces, Janet and Lori; and nephew, David.
Harry served in the US Marine Corp in the late 1950s. He graduated from the University of Georgia. Harry then went on to a distinguished career with the US Department of Agriculture in Washington DC, primarily working in the Office of International Cooperation and Development. He coordinated programs in developing countries to improve food sustainability. Among his many recognitions, he received the Secretary of Agriculture's Superior Service Award.
After retiring to Albuquerque he was an enthusiastic member of the Kiwanis Club and the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees.
He loved traveling, pets, and buffets.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University, where a visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed at either The Albuquerque Kiwanis Club or the Watermelon Mountain Ranch Animal Rescue.
