Harlan Wesley Seeley, 86, passed away peacefully at home on May 29th , in the loving care of his wife and children. Harlan was born in Los Angeles, California, and relocated to Albuquerque NM in 1971. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georganne; sons Dean and Kyle Seeley; daughters Jeanie Seeley-Hing and Kate Seeley-Garcia (Magdiel Garcia); grandsons Spencer Hing (Tatum), Jarod Harlan Hing, Avery Harlan Seeley, and Solomon Garcia; granddaughters, Natividad Garcia, Ava Garcia, and Autumn Seeley; and one great-grandchild on the way!
Harlan was a self-made businessman in machine fabrication and design. He worked in the aerospace industry in California, and then moved to Albuquerque to start Seeley Enterprises, which specialized in high-precision CNC machining, doing work for Sandia Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratories, GE, and Colt Firearms. After retiring, Harlan served on the board of directors for All Faith's Receiving Home, raising money as an advocate for children who are in unstable homes.
He took the family to Vermejo Park Ranch every summer, and fished (fly-fishing only, of course) the San Juan, Belize, the Bahamas, British Columbia and New Zealand. Harlan was also an avid golfer with a great short game, and often shot his age, even at 78. Harlan was a Rock for his friends and family. All who were privileged to know him as a son, brother, husband, father, friend or colleague, could rely on his unwavering loyalty and generosity. He had a quiet dry wit-usually a well-timed one liner, and loved sharing Very Tall Tales. He had unwavering devotion to his family and an unrelenting cheerful, positive attitude. He will be missed beyond words and has left us all hoping to emulate and pass on his perseverance, wisdom, and love of family.
