Gwendolyn Davis Green, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Although Gwen passed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, her heart was in West Texas where she was born on March 4, 1939 in Rockwall, Texas.

Forged by the time and place of her birth, Gwen had a grit common among those who experienced the hardships of the era and she carved her own path in life. Her career as an educator began when she enrolled in college without informing her parents. This pattern continued as she made her own way as a teacher of English and Literature, writer, poet, micro farmer, builder of homes and cabins in the woods, sewist, and crafter.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Ervin Green, parents Gladys Goff Davis and Henry Avis Davis, as well as her sisters Lorene Miller and Odell Wheeler, nephews Mike and Gary Wheeler, and beloved dog Anya. She is survived by daughters Kelly Green Yanco and Leslie Green Andritsos, son Patrick Neill Green, grandchildren Corey Rand, Nicholas George and Eleni Marie Andritsos, niece Cookie Rutherford, and nephew Russell Wheeler. She will be missed by many friends including neighbors and friends Glendie Farrar, Gail Brooks, Carol Thomas, Becky Forbus, Linda Wheeler, and the congregants of her home church Westminster Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service is planned at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, Texas and the date and time will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Ministry at Westminster Presbyterian https://austinpark.church.
