Grete (Gretchen) K. Gaschler

Our beloved Aunt Gretchen passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Gretchen taught math at Highland High School for 35 years. She chaperoned extracurricular activities and Teen Age Study Tour multiple times to Europe.

Her retirement was busy with docent work at the Albuquerque Zoo. She enriched her life with continuing education classes, music, theater, and travel. Gretchen was an avid explorer who visited every continent except Antarctica because “there was no shopping!”

Aunt Gretchen was a second mother to us, a mentor, and a lifelong friend. She truly was a gem, and though we will miss her dearly, her legacy of loving kindness will live on in our hearts.

Gretchen is survived by Ron Smock (nephew) and Linda Smock, their sons Sean (wife Anna), Adam, her great-grandnephew Hendrick and her great-grandniece Ada.
