It is with deep sorrow and steadfast love that we announce the passing of Gordon George Braithwaite, a devoted husband, beloved daddy and Papa, and the heart of a family whose lives he shaped with quiet strength and unwavering love. His passing leaves a profound void, yet his legacy endures in the generations he nurtured and guided.

Gordon was born in Bentonville, Arkansas, to George Willard Braithwaite and Billy Fay Braithwaite. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Braithwaite, 1967, and is survived by his brother, Glenn Braithwaite and wife Lena Mae.

On June 5, 1976, Gordon married his beloved wife, Janet Sue Payne, beginning a lifelong marriage defined by devotion, respect, and enduring love. Together, they built a family that became Gordon’s greatest pride. In retirement, Gordon found great joy in traveling alongside his beloved sweetheart, as they explored the country together in their RV. Those years were filled with adventure, quiet moments, and the simple happiness of being side by side, creating cherished memories that their family will forever hold close.

Gordon dedicated his career as a machinist at General Electric. He was a skilled craftsman who found joy and purpose in working with his hands. He built their family home creating not just a house but a place of belonging and love. His talents in woodworking and welding reflected his creativity, and many of the things he built will stand for years as quiet reminders of his strength and devotion.

He is lovingly remembered by his children and their families: MaryEllen Garcia, preceded in death by her husband Danny Garcia, 2021; their children, Ariana Rae Jordan, married to Ty Jordan, and Danny Uriel Santiago Garcia II. Kevin Braithwaite, married to Amanda Mascarenas Braithwaite; their son, Wyatt Gordon Braithwaite. Sara Rasband, married to Ronnie Rasband; their son, Logan Mack Rasband. Brent Braithwaite, his partner Dawn Cook; their children, Jolynna Crandal and Karyssa Cook. James Braithwaite and Kagen Braithwaite.

Gordon was a man of quiet strength and deep devotion. He lived a life defined by love for his family, steady guidance, and a powerful strength of character. He created a legacy not only through the family he raised, but through the beliefs he instilled, faith, resilience, and unwavering loyalty. His presence was a source of comfort, his example a guide, and his love a lasting gift that will continue to shape generations.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
