Gordon Lyle Box

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, Gordon Lyle Box on the third day of September 2023 at the age of 68 at his longtime home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived in death by his three children, Shontea Watson of Michigan, Nichelle Carrico of Arizona and Gordon Box of New Mexico with five grandchildren, Dakota Willis, Anthony Wetherill, Hunter Watson, Kalib and Jakob Carrico and had two wives, JJ Box and Kathy Box. His parents were Elvin and Pearl Box, and one half-sister Marilyn Swick.

Gordon had a zest for life and loved it to the fullest. Straight from high school he enlisted in the military and was active duty in the Vietnam War as a special op's sniper. After his military service he started his career as a CNC machinist and worked his way up as an engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. He obtained his bachelor's degree from UNM and was getting busy with projects on retirement when he got news of a very rare cancer.

Gordon was a down to the Earth straight to the point man, who's humor would bring a smile to any room. He greatly enjoyed creating, riding and building motorcycles, and just kicking back with a fire and playing music with his grandkids. His being in our lives has taught us all so many things, all his life lessons, his love, his smile and his laugh and his all-around good heart will be greatly missed.

We invite you to join us as we lay our father to rest on Thursday September 14th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. This will be at the FRENCH - Lomas. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or directly to the family home. Thank all of you for holding our family up in prayer during our time of grief.
