Gloria Chacon

Gloria Chacon, age 80, beloved wife and mother, was called to her eternal resting place on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born on July 26, 1943, in Tierra Amarilla, NM to Santiago and Juanita Garcia. Gloria was a deeply religious woman who loved her family and friends. Gloria enjoyed various activities which included cooking, going to the casino when she was able to, and visiting on the phone or in person with her family and friends on a daily basis. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger years, playing games such as Yahtzee, Dominoes, and watching shows on the Cooking Network and Hallmark Channel. She also enjoyed babysitting for family members and spoiling those she loved. She cared deeply for others, whom she put before herself.

Gloria was proud of all her family which included her husband, Jose "JD" of 49 years; son, Joseph and his wife, Melissa, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with her nieces she was especially close to: Juanita Jebbanema, Johanna Terrazas, Sonia Torrez, Rebecca Quintana, Janice Madrid, Anita Reyes and Cynthia Heze. She loved every single one of her many nieces and nephews, and all those she adopted and called family throughout her life. Gloria will be deeply missed and was loved by all whom her life touched.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Juanita Garcia; her husband, Jose "JD" and all of her siblings, a grandson, and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Melissa); her grandchildren, Arron, Trenton, Derik, and LeeAnna, and Tammy and many great-grandchildren and countless nephews and nieces from both sides of her family along with special friends she held dear, Tito Romero, Theresa "Granny" Beavers, and Kelly Mongiello.

Pallbearers are Jamie Martinez, Janice Madrid, Billy Terrazas, Shaun Quintana, John Gallegos, Sonia Torrez, and Jonathan Quintana.

Honorary Pallbearers are Arron Reagan, Trenton Reagan, Derik Reagan, LeeAnna Reagan, Tito Romero, Marqus Romero, Tracy Binion, Nathaniel Martinez, Candido Gurule, Maria Romero, Rebecca Quintana, Yolanda Lobato, and Elizabeth Atencio.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH -Westside.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Gloria on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Josephs Drive NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87120, with Monsignor Lambert Luna presiding.

Interment will be held on Monday November 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
