Listen to Obituary

Glen William Smith Jr. went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2026.

Glen was born in Los Angelas California, to Virginia and Glen W. Smith Sr. on September 25, 1961.

Glen proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he spent 10 years enlisted and was honorably discharged May 1, 1985 at the rank of Sergeant. After serving his country, he began his career as a software engineer and spent years climbing his way up the ladder with his persistence and education. He was loved by all those who met him, as his sense of humor and kind heart automatically drew people to him.

Glen loved playing guitar, and music brought him joy. He also loved watching the NFL and was a devoted Miami Dolphins fan even through the tough years. For 32 years, he told Roberta, "I have to be patient; they are building their team!" They traveled the country watching his Fins play in different stadiums.

Glen's greatest earthly love was his wife, Roberta. Their Christ-centered marriage will be remembered as a living example of faithful, lasting love. He had such great love for his family and was always happy to guide and assist them in their time of need; he will be forever missed. He showed us what it looks like to love as Christ loves was an example for the rest of us to live by.

Glen navigated his battle with cancer with strength, wisdom, endurance, courage, and a relenting faith in Jesus Christ, much the same way as he lived before the diagnosis. His journey led him to an even deeper understanding of the Lord's Word. He would spend hours studying at the level of the theologian and enjoyed discussing his findings with his loved ones. He spoke fondly of his brothers in Christ who wrapped him in their combined blanket of faith. He said he would miss those he loves but was also eager to arrive in his heavenly abode.

Glen was preceded in death by his Father Glen Sr., Mother Virginia Reed, sister's Marsha and Christie.

Glen is survived by his loving wife, Roberta, Grandson Dominic, Son Jay and Sister Maryann along with countless relatives and friends that will forever miss his earthly presence.

A celebration of Glen's life will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 3 pm at French Funerals and Cremations - Westside, 9300 Golf Course Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. A reception will follow at the funeral home from 4 pm - 6 pm.
