d. February 5, 2016

Kaplan, Gladys Mae
Gladys Mae Kaplan, 78, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 5, 2016. She was born on December 17, 1937, to Antonio and Enola Massaroni in Dawson, New Mexico. She moved to Albuquerque in 1954 where she attended Highland High School and graduated in 1955. After her graduation she studied at the Regina School of Nursing where she earned a diploma and was licensed as a Registered Nurse. Her specialty was Pediatrics and she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for Dr. Oscar Syme until the birth of her son, Max when she devoted all of her time to caring for her family. She was very active in supporting her husband, Albert in his teaching career, volunteering in his classrooms and accompanying him on out of town assignments for the Air Force Reserves. She volunteered many hours at Menaul School where her son and step son played football and filled in as "mom" to countless others. Her summers were spent travelling with her husband and son to 49 states as well as Europe, Canada and Mexico. She was an avid supporter of Lobo athletics, particularly football and basketball. In later years, Gladys spent the majority of her time caring for her father, Antonio; mother, Enola; and brother, Arnold, who all preceded her in death. In addition to Albert, her husband of 40 years, she is survived by her son Max, his wife, Lori and their children, Jessica Lunde, Andrew, Sofi, Adam, Michael and Opal Kaplan. She is also survived by her step children, Robert Kaplan and Rebecca Kaplan and many nieces and nephews.
