Gladys Ann Blea

Gladys Miller Blea, 88, passed away on May 5, 2023. She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Blea, who she was married to for 70 years; children, Frank E. Blea, and his wife, Sandra, Alberta Roxanne Baca, and Steven M. Blea, and his wife, LuAnn; grandchildren, Frank E. Blea II and Alicia, Christopher M. Baca and Tammy, Jeffrey S. Blea, Daniel J. Baca and Erika, Gregory A. Blea and Isabel, and Jamie S. Carpenter and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Elena, Eglen, Izabelle, Caleb, Daniella, Felix, Kylie, Grayson, Scarlett, Lawson, Ophelia, and Ethan. Also, many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Miller, Former Secretary of State of NM and her Father, Jay D. Miller, retired Santa Fe Railroad Official.

Gladys grew up in Albuquerque, attended Albuquerque High School and UNM. She and Frank met at AHS. She loved being an active mother as a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, President of the Parent's Club and Director of the Alvarado Follies. Gladys enjoyed a successful career in Real Estate, served as President of the NM Real Estate Commission and President and owned her own real estate and investment company. After retiring from real estate, a 2nd home in Sedona, AZ was built. She owned an art gallery in Scottsdale, AZ and later built and enjoyed a home on the golf course in Angel Fire. Her hobbies included interacting with her active family and dear friends, cruising and traveling all over the world, golfing at various resorts including her home courses, Tanoan CC and Angel Fire Resort and she enjoyed playing bridge. Gladys believed that life was a journey which included a series of adventures, trying various experiences and enjoying the challenges of life. She loved animals and adored their beloved dogs, adorable "Muffin" and sweet little "Peaches".

A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, May 19, 2023, at FRENCH-Wyoming, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

It was her wish, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Animal Humane New Mexico, 615 Virginia St. SE, Alb, NM 87108.
