Gilbert Salazar, 74, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026. Born and raised in Carnuel, New Mexico. He was the beloved son of Antonio and Lupe Salazar.


Gilbert will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Deborah Flores (Gabriel) and his grandchildren: Jonathan Flores (Janet), Nikole DeLuna, Daniel Flores (Mercedes), Olivia Nunez, Raeanne Nunez and Alejandro Armenta. He was adored by his great-grandchildren: Natalie Flores, Izaiah Gallegos, Ezekiel Flores, Jonathan Jr Flores, and soon to arrive Samuel Flores.


In addition to his immediate family, Gilbert is survived by his mother Lupe Salazar, his brothers Faustino Salazar (Margarita), Jack Salazar (Lena), Michael Salazar, sister Brenda Griego (Christopher), along with his extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered for the memories he created, the time he shared with those he loved, and the lasting impact he had on the people around him.


Gilbert is preceded in death by his wife Isabel, his daughter Monica, father Antonio Salazar, and in-laws Mariano and Anita Sandoval.


Though his passing leaves a profound emptiness, Gilbert’s memory will live on through the people who loved him and the moments they shared together. His life and legacy will continue to be remembered with love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.


Services for Gilbert will be held on Tuesday, August 18th at Holy Child Parish located at 19 Camino del Santo Nino in Tijeras, NM. The rosary will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by mass at 10:30 AM, Gilbert will be laid to rest at Cañon del Carnuel Land Grant Cemetery. Please join the family afterwards for a reception at Carnuel Land Grant.


Pallbearer for the service will be Alejandro Armenta, Daniel Flores, Gabriel Flores, Jonathan Flores, Marc Herrera and Saul Nuñez. Honorary pallbearer, Tony Garza.


Gilbert’s departure comes with great sadness. May he rest in peace, and may his memory forever remain a blessing to those who loved him.
