Most of all he adored spending time with his wife Donna, of 52 years, children Kelly and Steven and especially his grandkids Kate, Emma and George.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Amelia; sisters Mary Lou, Lorraine, and Villa (husband Frank also deceased); brother Diego (wife Sally living). He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Kelly (husband Ryan and their daughters Kate and Emma); son Steven (wife Jean and their son George); Gilbert's brothers Herman (wife Barbara), Gene, Arthur, Leonard, and Anthony; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gilbert was born in Peña Blanca, NM and grew up in Richmond, California. After two years in the U.S. Army driving tanks in Germany, he moved to Albuquerque, NM where he met his wife, Donna. Gilbert worked for Sandia National Laboratories for 28 years. He served as a greeter at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish and helped with the Thanksgiving food baskets. Gilbert spent hours praying the rosary. He will be remembered for his smile, kind heart and patience.
